On the outside, the plantain is deep green in color and larger than the common plantain; inside, it is white in color and has a floury texture. It is less sweet than the common plantain because of its high starch content. It is known as plantain, green plantain, plantain for cooking or plantain.
The plantain is one of the foods richest in potassium, which is important for restoring the sodium-potassium balance and preventing high blood pressure. It also has plenty of magnesium, which regulates bone formation and helps the heart and muscles to function properly.
